A civilian may never completely grasp what it means to be a Marine or a part of the Marine Corps family, but if they were to get as close as they could, it would be at Marine Week.
Marine Parents was fortunate to experience the sights and sounds of the Marine Corps at Marine Week 2011 in St. Louis this past week, and we'd like to share them with you through photos and videos.
We set up a tent right next to the Gateway Arch across from a rifle display and humvee, and we had the pleasure of meeting many Marines and their families.
We handed out our informational brochures to families that have never heard of us in hopes they will turn to our websites for support.
Our "The Marines Have Your Back" koozies were a huge hit, and so was Semper Gumby in his camo cape. We can't tell you how many Marines pointed at him and said, "Hey it's Semper Gumby! That's so cool!" Gumby even got into a scuffle with a Marine Corps dog. He was a little wet afterwards, but no permanent damage done!
On Thursday Marine Parents staff attended the Marine Corps Association Marine Week Dinner and were able to get our picture taken with General Conway and Semper Gumby. The week's events were truly unforgettable, and we hope you can relive some of our experiences through our photos and video clips below.
